Time To Heal - Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Time To Heal Retreat?
Time To Heal is a free, trauma-informed healing retreat for adult women who experienced childhood sexual abuse.
The retreat is designed to offer space, care, and time in a supportive environment. It is not therapy, treatment, or crisis intervention. There is no expectation to share personal stories or disclose details of trauma.
The intention is to create conditions where healing can be approached gently, at an individual pace, and with choice at every step.

Who is the retreat for?
The retreat is for adult women (18+) who identify as survivors of childhood sexual abuse and feel ready to engage in a shared, supportive environment.
Participants do not need to be at a particular stage of healing. Curiosity, self-awareness, and a willingness to engage with care and boundaries are enough.

Who is the retreat not for?
Time To Heal is not designed for individuals currently experiencing acute mental health crisis or unmanaged substance use.
If you are navigating significant distress or instability, we encourage seeking appropriate professional or crisis support before applying. This boundary exists to ensure safety and care for all participants.

Do I have to share my story?
No.
There is no requirement to share personal experiences, disclose trauma details, or speak in group settings. Many participants engage through listening, reflection, and presence rather than verbal sharing.
Participation in all activities is optional.

Will there be therapy at the retreat?
No.
Time To Heal is not a therapy program and does not replace clinical or therapeutic care. Facilitated experiences are trauma-informed and designed to support regulation, understanding, and integration — not diagnosis or treatment.

What happens during the retreat?

The retreat includes a combination of:
trauma-informed education
somatic and holistic practices
equine-assisted therapy
time for rest, reflection, and quiet connection
facilitated group experiences offered with choice
All offerings are invitations — never requirements.

What is equine-assisted therapy?

Equine-assisted therapy is offered in partnership with trained professionals and does not involve riding.
This work focuses on presence, observation, and relational awareness with horses. No prior experience is needed. Engagement happens from the ground and does not require verbal sharing.

Will I be sharing a room?
There is a possibility that you may share a room with one other participant.
Private rooms may be available and are discussed during the application process. Every effort is made to select a retreat location that offers ample privacy and space for rest.

Where does the retreat take place?
The retreat is held in a private, land-based setting. For safety and confidentiality reasons, exact location details are shared directly with participants after acceptance.

How long is the retreat?
The retreat takes place over five days and four nights.
This length allows time for orientation, engagement, rest, and integration without rushing the experience.

What costs are covered?

All retreat programming, accommodations, and meals are fully funded.
Participants are responsible only for their own travel to and from the retreat location.

What about phones, Wi-Fi, and staying connected?

Cell service and Wi-Fi are available at the retreat location.
Participants are encouraged to disconnect during retreat activities to support presence and rest, but phones are not restricted. Time is available throughout the day to connect with loved ones, and many participants choose to use their devices privately in the evenings.

Is confidentiality respected?

Yes.
Confidentiality is a core value of the retreat. Participants are asked to respect one another’s privacy and not share identifying information or personal experiences outside the group.

My child has been abused — do you offer support for minors?

Time To Heal is designed specifically for adults.
For youth support, we encourage connecting with organizations that specialize in care for children and adolescents. We may provide referrals, including:
Three Trees (youth-focused trauma support)
Little Warriors (education and prevention resources)

Is the retreat affiliated with a religion or spiritual belief?

No.
Time To Heal is non-religious and does not promote any spiritual or belief system. Participants of all backgrounds are welcome.

Do you offer retreats for other gender identities?
Childhood sexual abuse affects people of all genders.
At this time, the Time To Heal retreat is designed specifically for adult women. This reflects the current program structure, facilitation model, and safety considerations.
As a survivor-led organization, U Grow Girl remains committed to thoughtful, responsible program development. Any future offerings will be created intentionally and with leadership from the communities they are meant to serve.

How do I apply?
The process begins by requesting an invitation to apply.
This step allows space for orientation, questions, and mutual fit before any commitment is made. There is no obligation to proceed.

What if I’m not sure I’m ready?
That’s okay.
There is no timeline for healing and no pressure to decide. Many people return to this information more than once before taking a next step.
Support exists here if and when you choose to explore it.
